    What is a Giclee?

Simply put, a giclee is a fine art print created by using a specialized high resolution inkjet printer. A giclee an “art print” but giclee prints stand apart from normal art prints with their extremely high level of quality, longevity and value compared to a standard print. Pronounced “zhee-clay,” the word giclee is French for “to spray.” These are made to last, gallery-quality prints.

This literal interpretation of the word defines what the art of giclee printing is: reproducing art through a printer to exactly resemble an original piece.

    About the Art:

"The Ghost" was inspired by the original Beetlejuice, and it has always been one of my favourite films. This piece was inspired by my life-long best of friends, supporter and advisor Steve. He's rescued me from a few breakdowns, and he's always one of the first people to give me support. He is kind, genuine, and has encouraged me and my art from the start, and is always there for me in my hardest times. While going through a low point, he suggested I painted a character from one of my favorite films- Beetlejuice. He sat with me while I painted, wanting process photos and constant updates, and kept me going when I felt down. He knew I would feel better, and he sat with me for hours while I meticulously crafted the form. We talked about life, future ideas, and during that time, I confessed that I always wanted a boat as a home and the idea of Blue Eden was formed.

The original was painted in Golden Acrylics on a primed a 8"×10" cut of illustration board.

Fun fact: It's wild to think Kathrine O'Hara, who played Mrs. Deets in the film (also starred in the sequel and Home Alone) was taught high-school math by my father Dennis Weichman. He has a fond memory and a great story of how "Kathy", as he knew her, wonderfully delayed his class one day to demonstrate how her father sneezes. My dad could only assume it was a near perfect impression at the time.
